Stephen Hawking is one of the most brilliant, innovative minds to have ever lived ... changing the way we all think based on his in-depth theories having to do with general relativity, cosmology and quantum gravity. With great works such as; Hawking radiation, A Brief History of Time, Penrose–Hawking theorems, Bekenstein–Hawking formula, Hawking energy, Gibbons–Hawking, Gibbons–Hawking effect, Gibbons–Hawking space,Gibbons–Hawking, York boundary term, Thorne–Hawking–Preskill bet (just to name a few). He has been granted with every great award there is for a scientist. He was not only one of the greatest minds of our generation but a husband and father. He was ill for a good portion of his life with a rare early-onset slow-progressing form of motor neurone disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis "ALS" or Lou Gehrig's disease). He outlived the diagnosis of dying only a couple years later and beat the odds, living a fairly long life, at the age of 76 the illness got the best of him. Gratefully he left behind his teachings.
